Connecting horse & human through real conversation is our goal,
with the focus to build confidence in both.
Believe it or not Emma was that teenage girl that crazy horse obsession. Witnessing abusive horse treatment at 11yrs old, She became passionate about learning the psychology of how a horse feels and communicates. My mother was very supportive of this opening up her horse facility to horsemanship clinics with adults. Emma often being the demo girl, riding the first horse she started under saddle.
"Back then it was called "Natural horsemanship" Because it was such a new concept in Australia, even though the methods had being round for years. To me it is now just horsemanship. I was fortunate enough to see and meet many great horseman and women, even attending clinics of some of the great American masters in the 90s." Stated Emma.
Over the last 7yrs Emma has been teaching clinics to the public, yet she still remains a student to her craft attending other clinics.
From FEI judges to American horseman, to Aussie brumby training, to performance horsemen and even trick training. I believe even if you don't agree with some of what that instructor dose, there is always something to learn.
Now that is 20yrs of horsemanship clinics and studying people and I can honestly say I still find it ore inspiring.
Our clinics are a way we can all come together to learn about our horses in a fun, judgement free, shame free, open, and supportive setting. The way I see it is, everyone who turns up is already brave and committed to their horsemanship journey, because you have already put aside the whole day just to better your relationship with your horse. That is Amazing! I truly am grateful to share in the journey.
Types Of Clinics
Women Confidence Building Clinics:
These are quite amazing clinics. I have and still do struggle with confidence at times.(nobody tells you being a mother changes everything) The feelings of self doubt can creep in on any given day, in any new circumstance or when worrying behaviour is demonstrated in our horses. Having a safe way to communicate with our horses is the key. These clinics have a lot to do with getting real about what our negative self-talk is. Then having a safe plan to combat that, so we are able to present to our horses with confidence. They are raw and it's very rewarding to see everyone push themselves out of there comfort zones.
Teens Confidence Building Clinics 10-16yrs
Teen years are ruff on a kid, finding out who they are and need to become, is tough for anyone. Then being a mum of a teen I know this is the time when they listen to mentors and other people more than their parents sometime. In these clinics we try to cultivate a supportive safe place for these teens to learn how to better their relationship with their horses, to keep them safe. These are bit more play and team worked based, so as they achieve and learn without feeling a sense of being taught.
Juniors Confidence building 2-10yrs (Adult assisted)
This is such a crucial time in development for these kids. To be able to inspire safe, empathetic horsemanship skills, through encouraging play with their horses, is setting them up for success for their entire riding days. These clinics are cute and fun all Mums and dads are involved, making for quality time with your kids.
Men's confidence building
Society has expectations on males to be braver or at least not show or express it if they aren't. I call BS. Some of the best male horseman do feel empathy for the horses and can admit when they are afraid and plan around it. That courage is the key to be able to understand our horses better. These clinics are Designed to be supportive, non judgemental, fun, and aim to improve your relationship with your horse, both in saddle or on the ground.
Ground Work Basics
These are designed if you have never done Ground work before, if your horse is a youngster , is new or if the horse needs re-education for behaviour under saddle. It's the foundational building blocks for a strong relationship with your horse. We use similar steps when starting horses but at the clinic it is broken down to simple steps. This is all about body positioning, horse language, forming a connection, then building a communication through liberty and on the halter. Then finally leaning the key fundamental principles that helps a horse become brave. It is a requirement to have attended a basic ground work clinic before attending a ridden clinic, for safety purposes.
Ground work Intermediate
This type of clinic is if have done some basics ground work but would like to learn more, in order to further your horse's ground work either to improve back strength, safety or build their confidence out at new events. In these clinics we can cover all the ground work in a little more in depth and put into practice moving the horse for strength using the horse's body bio mechanics. We build on our body positioning, (Softer ques) horse language, (stress and relaxation signs) build on the connection, then refining communication and putting into practice the key fundamental principles that helps a horse become brave. Whether its to be a ridden horse, led horse or driven horse this is the foundation important for safety.
Ground work Advanced
Advanced clinic are really pretty cool. They have the same structure but this is all about refinement and strengthening for riding or driving to prevent injury. Engagement of the hind & core strength to create self carriage is paramount for our horses to have a long, pain free riding career. In these clinics we will discuss the body bio mechanics and influencing the feet to strengthen the horse. Maneuvers like flying changes, collection, spins, roll backs, stops, arcs and counter arcs can be easily be achieved under saddle because the foundations have been laid with out our weight in the saddle before we climb aboard.
These elements are a necessity for any young horse before being started under saddle or even older horses that have weakness through the loins and in hind that are struggling to do correct maneuvers in the saddle.

Ridden Basics Clinics
